A lot is very similar to LR (UI wise) but there are new and interesting opportunities. I was a bit underwhelmed at first but I am getting more and more impressed the more I work with it. Processing, this is where I am right now in my evaluation. I also like the way they implemented flagging, tagging, filtering, sorting, comparing and the Audition function! I use metadata as part of my file and folder structure and I am super happy with the way they implemented this support in Exposure X3, take a look for your self.Ĭulling is great and an area where others have fallen short for me. No smart collections but I manage without them. This is the first catalog-less solution where I don't miss the catalog. Physically using the file rename and sub folder feature and logically using Collections. I have spent most of my time this far evaluating based on my current workflow, especially import, organization, culling and quick development. I almost gave up on finding a replacement, until I finally gave Exposure X3 a chance.Įxposure X3 is not perfect but it is the first one enabling me to pretty much keep my workflow intact and actually providing new functionality with the potential of an even better workflow. Non has managed to deliver the same speed and it gets more and more obvious the longer I use the alternative software. All of them have required me to change my workflow one way or the other.

LR provides me with a great workflow from transferring files from the memory card, renaming and organizing these files on disk, culling, tagging, organizing into a logical structure, processing and exporting for print.Ī lot of other software I evaluated show a lot of promise initially. To me LR is all about workflow speed not squeezing out those last % of picture quality from the RAW converter. I am currently evaluating Exposure X3 as an LR replacement and I am this far pleasantly surprised. What is your experience with AlienSkin Exposure3 :ġ.) the catalogue system? is it reliable, fast and usefull?Ģ.) the Quality of the raw converter? is it as good as LR or C1?ģ.) editing possibilities? - I am only using 30% of the editing Features of LR currently (higlights, shadows, contrast, sometimes color enhancements of specific colours - eg for sky, exposure, filter, I like the graduated filter if I have a landscape and need to darken the sky or brighten the foregound) I am not printing with LR6,only exporting to jpg.

It seems also to be portable and will keep good speed of the system - not as C1, that put all the previews to one huge file, that slows down the system.Īlso the editing feature looks fine. I understand this concept and think I can live with that (have around 30.000 pictures in 7 years in one LR catalogue).

Somehow the idea of no having catalogues, but folders with additional Information seems quite good to me. Based on an experience of one user from this forum, i had a look on Exposure X3 from Alien Skin.
